What should be the resume format for freshers in India

You might want a resume format or template, so that you can fill the details as suggested. This is the standard approach used by most of the freshers in India or I say the many professionals of India and somewhere else.

However I don’t suggest this approach, a person or professional need to design or write his resume based on his creativity , skill set, experience,
thought process, achievements and several other parameters.

Then what ?

Are you missing that creativity or thought process ? Let me tell you a sample exercise which will be helpful for you If you are really serious :

{1} – List out most of your activities in one excel sheet since the day you joined the university, If your graduated year is june 2014, then you must
list out all the things since June 2010 to June 2014 { if you attended a four year engineering degree course} e.g.

Point 1: Attended Linux Internals training programs, and Implemented File System’s API by using the core File system API.—June-2010 – July 2010

Point 2: Studied Computer Graphics for six month, and implemented a tool so that any one can design the NAND/OR/AND gates based circuit. — Sep-2010 – Nov 2010

Point 3: Studied C++ Language and exercised BOOST library to understand its usage and how it can make a C++ programmer life simpler. — — Jan-2011 – Feb 2011

Point 4: Participated in the college football team and won the 4 th prize. — March-2011 – April 2011

Point 5: Researched low cost embedded system and analyzed the best TCP/IP stack to be used in respect to price, usability and extensibility. — — July-2011 – August 2011

Point 6: Studied web designing and developed a web based tool which calculates weather data from several other sites and provide the best one. — October-2011 – December 2011

Point 7: Researched customer needs related to electronics toys e.g. income level 2 Lakh to 3 Lakh per annum – Jan-2012 — to March-2013

Point 8:...

{2} – Now try to analyze the listed activities, and read your written details as a third person, and see what can be added or removed e.g. you need to add more specifics related to your boost c++ library learning – what you did, which programs you coded, which tools you used.

{3}– Now group your activities e.g. research activities, study activities, project development activities, lab activities.

{4} – Now find the best ones for which you are proud of e.g. you truly enjoyed while learning the boost C++ libraries and now you are best on it,
you truly enjoyed to learn the database systems and wrote one algorithm which can index data faster than the existing ones.

{5} -Now your achievements are ready, which you extracted by digging the inside of yours.

{6} – Now pick a document or notepad, and try to write it, so that it can be a easy read to a reader.

{7} – If applying for the jobs, then visit www.naukri.com, www.dice.com, www.linkedin.com for jobs, and see what you know and what industry is demanding.

{8} – See the gap , Can you fulfill it, If yes then try to present that gap on your CV/Resume as well.

{9} – Continue to review your steps 1 to 9

{10} – Your resume is ready, and its a template/format you have defined it,and its a best fit for you.

{11} – Now let it reviewed by surrounding professionals of yours, and see their feedback, get everybody’s feedback , and see what can be added and what can be removed.

{12} – Now you are all set, as you know what are the insight parameters of yours, what industry need, and based on that present yourself.

{13} – Continue to review steps 1 to 12

{14} – Once you reach to this step, here you already have lots of contents which is the exact insight of yours. you need to only put that contents in readable form, so any body can understand who you are { sure it would be any one from the employer side if you are writing this resume  to apply jobs }

(

Note :

— You may design the steps the way you feel better , above is just one example

— Freshers means – Fresh B.Tech/MCA/B.Sc/M.Techs/Ph.D/B.Com/C.A/ICWA or any one else who has just done the study and haven’t worked in industry formally

Remember : Job Interview depends on various parameters:

— From employer side e.g. job title, responsibility, department, project type, technology type, skills type, years of experience, mind set of interviewer/interviewers and many other parameters

— From candidate side e.g. the way CV (resume) was presented, the way the candidate carried the technical/non-technical discussion ),candidate communication style, his capabilities towards the applied job, How he or she is better than others and many other parameters.

)

For sure you need to add your contact information, and academic education degree to your resume as well. But the main thing you need to show your skills, your practicals, your ownership, how you can handle the things without guidance, your unique points and several other parameters.

For sure you will write all these things in a standard order. But Its you who wrote the contents which best suits to you. As you know for any job interview the interviewer will get the insight of yours only from your resume. If you seriously wrote your resume then your life will be simpler and you don’t need to prepare yourself hard for an interview.

To complete this exercise, You may want to get the guidance from your friends, seniors and known professionals of yours, If you feel you need more, then connect me I will help you.

Wish you all the best.
